Raising Taxes Could Lead You to Heaven

There was a meeting on Thursday night in Marlboro, where State Representative, James Eldridge told those gathered, or tried anyway, why it would be a good idea to pay more taxes. I could not attend but I have heard from those who have and evidently members of the local tea party groups were there and represented themselves and the Tea Party movement well.
Why do we always hear about raising taxes and never anything about cutting spending? According to the article in the Metrowest Daily News, Eldridge thinks those who make more should make more.

"If you make more, you should pay more for income taxes," he said. - Metrowest Daily News
What he and so many others don't seem to understand is if you make people pay more because they are successful, these people will eventually decide "Why make more just to give it away?" This has always happened in the past and leads to nothing but economic stagnation, which in case Eldridge hasn't noticed, can not become much more stagnate.

Our elected officials up there on Beacon Hill under the golden dome, can't seem to connect the dots between high taxes and the reason companies are moving out of Massachusetts to other states. The other thing they don't seem to understand is when you increase taxes on businesses, which this would do as small business owners pay double taxation now, and their taxes will rise, that these taxes will be passed onto consumers. I don't know about you, but I am already scraping by trying to buy gas and groceries, I might even have to stop drinking soon.

We need to do whatever we can to stop these people from raising taxes, it starts with each election, even those at the local levels. We need to cut spending first, then maybe we can talk about raising taxes. Or we could go through life like this guy:

I feel blessed that I can pay more," said Fran Bakstran of Northborough. "I do think this is important and there has to be a balance." - Metrowest Daily News

  1. The idea that those who earn more are there by obligated to pay more has become ingrained in our psyche. We must do all we can to disprove that idea. I am very proud of all the Tea Party members that attend. They all spoke with passion but refused to be baited into being bellicose. This was a fine example of what we in the Tea Party are and can do.
