Our First Guest Post - Quake

Following is a guest post from one of our members, feel free to comment:
In the summer of 1811, the great Shawnee Warrior-chief Tecumseh, in an effort to unite the various Indian tribes into a confederation to resist the advance of the United States, predicted that a great sign would come. He predicted a shaking of the Earth that would be felt by all and acknowledge his righteous cause with tangible proof that the Great Spirit was on his side.
In the winter of 1811-1812, a series of earthquakes known as the New Madrid earthquakes shook the Mississippi valley from the Gulf of Mexico to Canada, through Tennessee, Kentucky, Ohio, and felt all the way the Eastern coast. The four major quakes are estimated at 8 on the Richter scale and the only reason it is not widely known as a famous natural disaster is that the areas most affected were sparsely settled and only that with Indian villages and settlers cabins. New
lakes were formed in minutes during the quakes and others disappeared. The mighty Mississippi itself changed its course forever after waves sent many ships and men to the bottom. Needless to say, many warriors came over to Tecumseh’s confederation very soon after.

As if taken right out of Tecumseh’s playbook, the global warming alarmists have used the same tactics with relation to natural events to attempt to justify their beliefs. Summer heat, Winter cold, heavy rains, periodic drought, over average snowfall, under average snowfall, Hurricanes, tornadoes, tsunamis and yes, even earthquakes have all been pointed to as “evidence” of man made climate change.
There being no evidence of a substantive warming trend to coincide with the increased co2 levels over the past hundred years, the alarmists have pointed to anything and everything as evidence of the anthropogenic warming hypothesis.  Contrary to the fifty million Frenchmen can’t be wrong view; the scientific process does not operate by democratic vote.
Scientific hypotheses are tested, tested, and retested before they acquire the status of a true theory. Part of the testing process is peer review to anyone, especially critics, to ascertain and strengthen the hypotheses correspondence to the facts of reality.
The fact that one of the major centers for climate science, the East Anglia University refuses to divulge its data for peer review to the community at large, (that is, the data they haven’t claimed to have lost), is a obvious warning flag of less than credible data. The University in a FOIA request refusal to even state the sites where they collected climate data, claim that to divulge the sites would result in “financial harm” to the University by adversely affecting their “ability to attract research funding”.
That certainly doesn’t sound like science to my layman ears. But to a vested warmist, this
means nothing. The warming alarmists can turn a blind eye to book cooking that would make an Enron accountant blush.
Some alarmists, the same persons who hyperventilate about corrupt corporations running amok on Wall Street and Washington, are absolutely fine with the growing number and life
threatening antics of carbon speculators. Indeed, one of the leading figures of warming alarmism, Al Gore, Chairman of Generation Management, a corporation he founded with ex Goldman Sachs CEO David Blood, is poised to become one of the first carbon billionaires pending the regurgitation of legislation such as cap and trade. The same persons, who see demons under every Wall Street business suit, astonishingly see no corruption or naked greed in the fact of corporations whose existence and profits are totally dependent, indeed centered upon global warming belief and legislation.
GE, another corporation with a massive investment in carbon legislation, who’s CEO was recently named as one of Obama’s top economic advisors, elicits little or no notice to the proponents of global warming. No outcry of conflict of interest between warming “science” and
a connected corporation with tremendous political pull.
In testimony to Congress on March 31, 2011, Scott Armstrong, Kesten Green, and Willie Soon
testified that “The Warming alarmists have not demonstrated the predictive validity of their procedures. Instead, their argument for predictive validity is based on their claim that nearly all scientists agree with the forecasts. This counts of ‘votes’ by scientists is not only an incorrect tally of scientific opinion, it is also, and most importantly, contrary to the scientific method.”
In their testimony they found fault with the data of the famed IPCC report that is quoted like
gospel by the majority of warmists. They testified that the sources upon which it is drawn and the methods used for its computer models had an 80 to 90 percent error rate of violating relevant forecasting principles. They testified also that “Based on our own analyses and the documented unscientific behavior of global warming alarmists, we concluded that the global warming alarm is the product of an anti-scientific political movement.”
Of course it is and it has been since day one. It is past time for rational individuals to reject
this political agenda cloaked in spurious, incomplete, science as a means to reduce our industrial civilization to a medieval state. It is painfully obvious that irrationally greedy, corrupt politicians and corporations are trying to wrench a profit from the transition to such a dismal state of civilization.
The next time someone points to a natural weather event as evidence of global warming or the Great Spirit’s favor, realize that desperation and lack of facts are the source of
such ridiculous claims. But further recognize the difference that at least in the case of the admirable, heroic Tecumseh, the goal was a culture’s survival, not its destruction.
