I see dead people, and they all have EBT cards. Yep, Massachusetts certainly can't be accused of not caring for their deceased citizens, after all over 1,400 of them have been collecting benefits from the state.
And this isn't the only problem the audit by the State Auditor, Suzanne Bump found, it is just the piece which is getting the most air time. We aren't hearing much about the 300,000 missing EBT cards, we haven't heard much about the 9,800 people who were issued 10 or more replacement cards, including one person who was issued 127. And we haven't heard much about the places these cards are being used, Las Vegas, Hawaii, Puerto Rico, the Virgin Islands and other exotic places.

Unfortunately this isn't the first time we have heard about this, and each time our governor tells us the same thing "Nothing to see here folks, move along now." Remember this is the same guy who wanted to raise our taxes by $2.3 billion.
So again, we listen to the called from both sides of the legislative aisle about how we need to reform the system, and we need "tighten" it up, but then when these reforms come up for a vote, they are voted down.
And remember they are voted down by the same people you elect. Here in Sturbridge for example, that means by our State Senator Stephen Brewer.

However, I will give credit where credit is due, Suzanne Bump, the State Auditor, is a Democrat. Whether any thing comes of this audit or not, I applaud her for doing this in spite of the problems she has now caused against those in her own party. Had this been a republican? The whole thing would have been labeled as those evil republicans attacking the poor again.
Will anything come of this? Probably not, maybe some small, for-show only reforms, but that will be it. Until we change those who allow this to happen, those who refuse to stand up to the democrats in charge and the arrogant governor, we will continue to throw away our tax dollars.
