Today in Quincy, where real patriots used to live, he said:
“I am fully aware that in a few months from now, some in the Republican Party will consider me to be a pain in the butt. And I am okay with that.” - MassLiveFrom USNews.com:
Speaking Monday at a diner in Quincy, Mass., Gomez declared his independence from the national GOP brand, citing his support for legislation that would require background checks on all gun sales, gay marriage, immigration reform and believes climate change is real and partially the result of human behavior.

But I don't blame Gomez. Instead I'll put the blame on the Massachusetts Republican Party and the National Republican Party who have convinced Gomez that the only way to win as a republican is to be a democrat.
In my opinion, here is the mistake they are making. The remember back to the special election in which Scott Brown won against Martha Coakley. The republicans mistakenly believe that the Democrats didn't learn their lesson in that election, the mistake being that they were asleep and figured whoever they ran would walk to a win. Their machine wasn't firing on all cylinders, and they got beat. when Brown ran for reelection, using the same "I'm an independent" he was beat and beat bad. Gomez will get beat in the same way.
The only way a republican will win in this state again is to be a real republican, not a democrat lite. Admits
