The Suspension is Killing Me

Well it seems the Sturbridge Town Administrator has gone and got himself suspended again. For the second time it is because of his tardiness.
According to an article in the Worcester Telegram, the Board of Selectmen voted on the three day suspension last night. In my last post concerning some issues at the Town Meeting, I mentioned that perhaps it might be a good idea for the town to consider having a residency requirement for town employees. The reason I mentioned it then was so they have an “ownership stake” in the town and its tax rate.

But this is another reason it might not be a bad idea. Mr. Suhoski lives in northern Worcester county, which, depending on the route he chooses can take from 45 minutes to a little over an hour to get to Sturbridge from there. The TA does by necessity work some late nights, attending meetings, etc. Last Thursday for example, he was at the same meeting I was at and I left at nine PM, assuming he left when I did, which he probably didn’t, He would have arrived home at 10:30. I can see where he might have trouble getting up in the morning.

The TA’s job is the kind of job where there are going to be late nights and early mornings. It comes with the territory. Therefore I have two suggestions for Shaun:
  • Move to Sturbridge. I am sure there is a house or two which is for same in town due to the fact that many residents can no longer afford to live here.
  • Ask Lt. Gov. Tiny Tim Murray for driving tips. just don’t let him use a town vehicle.
In the meantime, how did we vote at the town meeting concerning his merit increase anyway?

  1. I was shocked that he got the merit based raise. How ignorant are the voters of this town at times? I cant believe that his suspension was with pay. Creamer should go after the job. Resign as a member of the BOS and get paid for what he does. A residency requirement is in order for that position. We can help pay the relocating costs to get a good candidate in the door if needed. Suspended twice in about a year for the same thing. I suppose we are going to keep doing it and paying him in the future for the same infraction. I don't make close to what he is being paid and i get to work every day on time. So I've been late about 5 times over the past 3 years. Thats getting to work by 530 AM everyday and leaving when the work is done, usually about 5 PM, leaving the house at 445 am to get there on time. Please, open up the search process. We need someone who is going to play smashmouth harball with both the police and fire contracts. Maybe they will even be able to get to work on time each day.

    1. Remember these are the same people who told us how we need to make sure we keep qualified people in management positions by paying them more.

  2. I know I was one of the few that voted against the raise at the annual town meeting! (which, by the way, the fun continues this coming Monday, June 18th) How does one justify a raise one week then he gets suspended the next??? Now I'm really confused.

  3. creamer and gimas voted against the pay raises. the new selectwoman was not part of the selectboard when the 3 others voted to approve pay raises. suhoski has to go and then they need to clean house in a few other departments. can you say dpw, building & fire departments boys & girls? suhoski is a weak manager who is run by his employees. hope he's gone soon.
