What Were They Thinking - Again

First it was the brick sidewalks, then the front doors of the Town Hall no one could use and now it seems someone decided to out the old single pane windows back into both the Town Hall and Center School instead of energy efficient thermal pane windows.

Why? According to the Telegram it has to do with historical preservation. Why someone even said it would be shameful to know that these historic buildings had thermal pane windows and not the originals. Really? So what? I think we could maybe see the difference but probably not since I would be willing to bet that there are companies who could make a thermal pane window which would look exactly like the old ones. And I even bet that those new windows would save even more money in heating costs.

It is interesting that so often we hear about how we need to watch our budgets, God forbid we have to not give raises to the teachers or even lay one off, yet we literally let money fly right out the windows. yes, I know, they might put storm windows on if there is money left. Do we really think storm windows will be less noticeable than new thermal pane windows?

I wrote yesterday about the tea party movement and how we need to start changing on the local level. This is the perfect example of what happens when we don't. This isn't fiscal responsibility, not even close.

It really is time that the Town of Sturbridge (and I be there are a lot of other towns there with the same type people doing the same kind of thinking) thinks things out a little better when it comes to spending my hard earned money.

  1. The people who decided to install the expensive slate roof, reglaze the original windows, and install historically accurate other stuff are probably members of the same Hysterical Commission that decided the Veteran's Monument had to be outta there because it contaminated the sanctity of the Town Hall.
