Time For a Change in Direction

Looking at the date of my last post, it has been almost a month since my last one. Some may be glad of that, who knows, but here I am. I am back working at a real job again, which means less time to write. And oh, so many things are happening in Massachusetts politics.

Probably first on the list is the announcement of our senior senator, John Kerry, is going to replace Hilary Clinton as Secretary of State. It is pretty certain he will be approved which means that there will be an opening for another new senator here in Mass. Scary isn't it that Lizzy is the senior senator?

This means there will be at least one primary (Democrats) and maybe two depending on who decides to run on the Republican side. While there is no official candidates on the Republican side, it is generally assumed that Scott Brown will run again. Personally after his campaign in November I think he should run on the Democratic ticket.

This leads to another interesting race of sorts, the one for the Chairman of the State Republican Party. The previous Chair, Bob Maginn has resigned and there are two candidates vying for the seat. One is Rick Green and the other is Kirsten Hughes. There seems to be a lot of concern from many of us Republicans concerning Hughes. See, she was an integral part of the Brown campaign, and many believe if she is elected, she will channel all the funds of the party to Brown, at the exclusion of any other announced candidates.

There are many of us out here who are no longer supporting Brown. I can only speak for myself, but I feel as if he let me down in this past election. When Brown was first elected, I like him because he did what he said he was going to do, be an independent in the Senate, which he was. I may not have agreed with some of his votes but he did what he said he would do. But this last campaign he began to turn into a Democrat. He began spouting off all the lefty talking points, forgetting what real conservatives believe.

Warren should not have won. It's as simple as that.

So this brings up the question: Do we need some new blood in the state Republican Party? Do we need a chairman who more than likely already knows who they want to be the Senate candidate or should we try someone new? It should be quite obvious that the state party hasn't been too successful lately.  We only need to look back at the results in November for proof of this. Especially on the state level.

It's time for a change in party leadership. I know who I am supporting on January 31st.
